What is Healthy Kids?
Healthy kids is a new program that provides free or low-cost health care coverage for Oregon kids and teens who don’t have health insurance. Even kids with current health conditions can apply.
Coverage lasts for at least one full year and can be extended so long as the child is still eligible.
Three key things determine if your child qualifies for no-cost or low-cost coverage: age, residency and income.
- Child must be age 18 or under–your baby, grade-school student or teen.
- Child must live in Oregon and be a legal resident.
- Household income can’t be more than 300 percent of the federal poverty level, which is about $66,000 for a family of four. Income level depends on family size, so for smaller families, the limit is smaller. For larger families, the limit is higher.
