Oregon Action advocates for comprehensive children’s healthcare!
Oregon Action led the statewide advocacy efforts which resulted in establishing a 1% tax on hospitals and providers which dedicated funds to provide comprehensive healthcare for most children in Oregon.
Oregon Action conducted community meetings, town hall forums, provided testimony at public hearings, engaged in grassroots mobilizing in more than 1000 calls, emails and letters along with meeting face-to-face with decision makers to advance the passage of House Bill 2116 in the Oregon Assembly during the 2009 legislative session. Our campaign was waged statewide with active supporters from Rogue Valley to Portland.
Through our 501(c3) non-profit Fair Share Research and Education Fund we have been providing application assistance and outreach to communities of color as well as low to middle income families since 2009.
About Healthy Kids Insurance
Healthy Kids Insurance is available to most children under the age of 19 throughout the state of Oregon.
It is comprehensive insurance covering medical, dental, vision, prescription, mental health and chemical dependency. Coverage is for 12 months and is renewable annually as long as the child is still eligible. Your child will not be put on a waiting list or denied because of a pre-existing condition.
Based on a family’s income there are three categories for coverage:
There is no monthly premium or co-pay.
A small monthly premium for all children in the home is paid based on a sliding scale.
Families who are above the low cost income per household size buy into the program at full cost. Current monthly rates range from $165 to $475 per child, depending on the age of the child and the plan of choice.
